Meet the McKeen’s Scouts/Analysts

Brock Otten - Director of Scouting & Ontario Regional Scout

Brock has been covering the Ontario Hockey League for over a decade through his site "OHL Prospects," and has been providing content to McKeen's for several years now. In particular he has helped edit, write, and assemble the yearly draft guides in recent seasons. When not writing about hockey, Brock is a physical education teacher and a multi-sport coach.

Derek Neumeier - Assistant Director of Scouting / Senior West Regional Scout

Derek covers the west from his home base of Calgary, Alberta, by attending as many WHL and AJHL games as possible, while also watching the top prospects from other regions through video. He has attended three NHL drafts, a Hlinka Gretzky Cup, a Memorial Cup, and a CHL Top Prospects Game as a credentialed member of the scouting community. Prior to joining McKeen's he held the roles of Head Western Scout and Head Crossover Scout with FCHockey.

Josh Bell - Publishing Coordinator and Editor

Josh has been covering hockey since 2018, starting with The Hockey Writers where he first found his love of analyzing prospects and the NHL Draft. From there, he became the Director of Content and a Head Scout for FCHockey, and a freelance contributor with Sporting News Canada. In 2022, he joined McKeen's to cover the AHL while assisting with event coverage and draft analysis, while also serving as the director of video scouting. Now, he assists in the publishing and editing area.

Matej Deraj - Central Europe Regional Scout

Matej focuses on Slovak and Czech prospects, but he has helped with scouting young players from other parts of Europe as well. The Bratislava, Slovakia native also works at the most prestigious daily sports newspaper in his country (Denník Šport) as a prospects writer.

Chapin Landvogt - Central Europe Regional Scout

Chapin, who has cooperated with McKeen's over the past two years, has been covering the German hockey scene and various regions of Europe for several publications over the better part of the past two decades. Aside from scouting and journalistic endeavors, he's worked closely with the German Ice Hockey Federation at a number of tournaments the nation has hosted and has himself been coaching at different levels of pro and amateur hockey in Germany, including the men's third pro circuit (Oberliga) and women's top league. In addition, Chapin heads the text and localization departments for his full-time employer.

Chase Rochon - Ontario Regional Scout

Chase was born and raised in southern Ontario, the hockey center of the world. While playing the game and also being a devoted Pittsburgh Penguins and Niagara Icedogs fan, he knew his life would be in the game of hockey. Chase has experience in all areas of the game. He is the head coach of U12A in Welland Ontario, he has been an on ice official, he works for Stathletes as a video analyst and has had multiple analytic positions with Brock University Men's Hockey, Southern Tier Admirals and the OHL. Chase has a great hockey knowledge of Canada and specifically Ontario from OHL to U16AAA. He will be expanding his knowledge working as a regional scout for us at McKeen's.

Adam Tate - Western Canada Regional Scout

In his second season with McKeen's, Adam Tate has been a critical viewer of various levels of hockey for years. Captivated by the NHL Draft and prospect development, Adam can be found at one of the many nearby rinks every weekend. When not following his passion for hockey, Adam works as a Producer/Production Manager in the Visual Effects side of the filmmaking industry.

Jamison Derksen - North American Video Scout

Jamison is a new addition to the McKeen’s scouting team. The Vancouver Giants Video Coach for the previous two seasons, Jamison loves reviewing seemingly endless amount of hockey video, so stepping into a Video Scouting role is a perfect fit. He worked in the Western Hockey League from 2018-2023 and has attended two NHL Drafts (Vancouver 2019, Nashville 2023).

Steven Graves - European Video Scout

Steven will be covering Europe as a video scout after returning home to Windsor, Ontario after 2 years abroad in Germany. He has an unwavering passion for following prospects from every corner of the globe and loves highlighting the future of the greatest sport on earth; spending unhealthy amounts of hours watching film during the season. He is looking forward to offering his contributions to McKeens for the upcoming season!

Felix Robbins - Swedish Regional Scout

Felix covers the notable prospects of the Swedish region, taking planes, trains and automobiles from his home base of Oslo to get where he needs to go. While this is his first official scouting position, he has been a dedicated and passionate hobby scout for many years and has had an unquenchable thirst for hockey since he can remember. When he isn’t talking your ear off about the greatest game on earth, Felix can be found in the kitchen perfecting recipes he found on TikTok or in the studio making music. He’s also the foreman of an electronics warehouse. How does he find time for all of these things? Not even Felix has the answer to that!

Jeremy Tremblay – QMJHL Scout

Jeremy is the newest QMJHL scout for McKeen’s Hockey. His insatiable passion for the NHL draft does not only come from watching a ton of hockey, but also from analyzing, understanding, and writing about the best sport in the world. Following each NHL draft since 2015, his eagerness to share his observations and vision of the game never stops growing. He also loves using statistics and numbers to scout a player. He’s looking forward to writing about the best draft prospects for McKeen’s Hockey!

Jérémi Plourde - QMJHL Scout

Jérémi begins his second year of covering the QMJHL as a regional scout, but he has been a fan of drafting and developing players for many years. Hockey is a central part of his life, and with scouting being his favorite aspect of the game, you can imagine how much he loves it. Jérémi tries to see QMJHL games in person as much as he can, as well as AHL games in Laval to also keep track of how players grow and evolve. He has attended the 2022 NHL draft and will look to attend many more in the future. He is very happy to stick around with the team for a second year and already can't wait to see how this year unfolds!

Ben Misfeldt - Western Canada Regional Scout

Based out of Kelowna, BC, Ben joins the team this season as a West Regional Scout. A recent graduate from Brock University’s Sport Management program, Ben has always had a keen interest to work in hockey. Throughout his time in University, he developed a passion for scouting and began watching video extensively. He was also tweeting frequently about prospects, paying particular attention to the players who were being undervalued. This led him to his first official scouting role with McKeen’s where he will be scouting live WHL and BCHL games in addition to many late nights of video scouting work.

Mark Dube - USA Regional Scout

Mark spent the past two years writing articles for Future Considerations and Dobber Hockey, and has transitioned into scouting for McKeen’s, covering the NTDP, USHL and NCAA. His passion for following NHL Draft prospects sees him attending games across Michigan in order to produce content for the McKeen’s team. Feel free to say hello and discuss some hockey if you run into him at the rink.

Dave Hall - AHL Writer and Scout

Dave covers our Pacific and Central Division AHL prospects. With a Degree in Sports Management, Dave has been covering hockey in a variety of fashions for the better half of 15 years. He began his scouting/writing with DobberProspects and eventually climbed the ranks as Managing Editor. Now, he covers Vancouver Canucks prospects for CanucksArmy and continues to keep close tabs on leaguewide prospects through Mckeens. Dave is active on Twitter and is always happy to talk shop with those interested.

Henry Lawrence - Regional Scout of Russia

Henry began scouting prospects in 2020 and quickly developed a passion for finding the next generation of talent. He started his own website and youtube channel for the purpose of posting game reports and highlighting the next wave of Russian hockey superstars. He is currently in the final year of a sports management degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Outside of scouting, Henry likes to fish, cook, hike, and watch movies. He joined the McKeen’s team in August of 2024 and is excited to write about the future stars of the NHL!

Jeremy Rivet - Regional Scout of Finland

Starting his scouting career with McKeen’s, Jérémy has been doing prospect scout reports for the past few years while studying in computer science. Freshly graduated from the Université de Sherbrooke, he moved to Gatineau to work as a programmer and he takes advantage of being close to the QMJHL and the OHL to go to games as much as possible. After having played hockey from 4 to 18 years old, Jérémy is now living his passion for the sport in a different way by trying to find the future NHLers. Outside of hockey, Jérémy is a big fan of Formula One and soccer.

Josh Klicka - Regional Scout of the United States

Scouting since 2022, starting with The Pro Hockey Group as a College Scout / U.S. Draft Eligibles, he has continued to carve out a role there while joining McKeens this past summer as a US scout.

Kyle Watson - Content Creator

A lifelong junior hockey fan, Kyle began his career in 2017 as a team reporter for the London Knights website. Before joining McKeen's Hockey this fall, he worked covering the NHL Draft for FCHockey and DobberProspects, as well as the Ontario Hockey League.

Liam Staples - Regional Scout for Ontario

Liam is in his first season at McKeen’s covering the Ontario Region. Liam has previous scouting experience working with Draft Prospects Hockey before transitioning to McKeen’s. Liam is a graduate of the Sport Management program from Brock University, currently working as an intern at MLSE with the Sport Development team. In his free time, Liam loves to read, watch and talk all things hockey.

Michael Moroz - AHL writer and Scout

Entering his first season with McKeen’s, Michael is extremely excited to cover NHL prospects from across the North and Atlantic divisions within the American Hockey League. Prior to joining McKeen’s, Michael spent several seasons as a scout for teams in the AJHL and the NAHL. Outside of his love for hockey, Michael is currently a graduate student in psychology at the University of Chicago, and enjoys going on long walks with his dog, Douglas, during weekends.

Sean Boyd - Regional Scout of the United States

Sean covers the United States region for McKeen’s. Born and raised in the United States, he scouts from Montreal, where he is attending McGill University pursuing a joint major in Statistics and Computer Science. When he’s not scouting, he can be found working on hockey analytics projects, lifting weights, painting, or playing hockey. Sean is a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan and has been in love with the sport of hockey since he was old enough to skate.

Viktor Ahlund - Regional Scout of Sweden

Viktor is a Swedish native who has been playing the game for over 18 years. He got into scouting in 2014 when he landed a scouting position for Alterno Management who represents players like Victor Hedman and Gabriel Landeskog. During his years as a scout he attended WJC, U 18 WC, Ivan Hlinka and the Swedish nationals for several years. He operates in south Sweden where you can find him at the rink in Ängelhom, the home of Rögle BK. A proud member of the McKeen’s scouting staff for his first season.

Viktor Fomich - Regional Scout of Russia

Analyzing the Russian draft-eligible and free-agent prospect markets for more than 10 years now, Viktor also occasionally writes about these topics on various websites including McKeen's. Also he is maintaining the @RUSProspects twitter account and is combining all that with working as an IT&T industry engineer.
